Lindbergher Saga
A runic lay
I hewed my way - as did of old
My Viking forebears, pruod and bold.
When high the echoing helmets rung
To deadly javelin's from tongue.I hewed my way - from Vinland Good;
Twain shield-maids froward be me stood
And kindly norns spun the thread
Which through the seud to Frankland led.I hewed my way - where Thorfinn Earl
Did once his broad-striped sail unfurl;
On winged steel I spurned the main
To cleave the sea-bird's lonely reign.I hewed my way - with mind well steeled
For thane to thane will never yield.
Nor frost nor fog can play a part
That daunts a man's courageous heart.Agnes Huitfeldt Solsness
